He is a soldier, led by war beyond the seas and continents. She is the spouse of a God who never gave any sign of life. He spent his life traveling, she spent hers trapped atop a tower.

In a world where everyone wears a ring that heats up the closest they get to their soulmate, their rings have always remained cold, dooming them to a life of loneliness. So after years of yearning, when they finally feel the long awaited warmth around their fingers, they both decide to take their chances in a race against destiny.

Will he be able to climb this sinister tower that seems to call him? Will she find the strength to escape from her prison? Will they finally come together in the heart of the ruins?

Hello! I’m Antoine Latour, and I’m the author of this comic. I live in Strasbourg, France, and I don’t go outside very much, except to buy cheese. I like puns and semicolons.

In 2016, I started working on The Heart of the Ruins, to practive using a new drawing style; you’ll notice that it tends to evolve as the comic progresses, and that’s a good thing. I hope you’ll enjoy this story! :)

Alright, but how do you do them drawings?

I draw and ink my pages on paper using a Pentel brush pen, and Pigma Micron pens. Those were made in Japan, which is a terrific country, I’m told.

I then scan everything and do the colors in Adobe Photoshop, which is a software that wasn’t made in Japan, but is still good nonetheless.

The lettering is also made in Photoshop; I use two fonts for this, which are LaCartoonerie (for the narration panels) and Ames.

I sometimes use Blender to create 3D models, which I use as a reference for backgrounds, because perspective is hard.

When will the rest of the story be released?

I wanted to have the 4 first chapters finished before I started publishing the comic. After that, I might release new pages once they’re finished, or maybe I’ll publish whole chapters at once. We’ll see? Please tell me which one would be better in your opinion.

I’m not one for deadlines and regular schedules regarding my personal projects. It will be done when it’s done!

How long have you been drawing?

Since always. The muses appeared before me when I was born, but since I was quite busy learning how to breath, I didn’t quite get what they wanted me to do. Drawing characters with huge eyes, I assume.

Can I repost one of your comic pages elsewhere? Can I use one of your images?

You can do whatever you want with my stuff. Be sure to credit me, though, that would be lovely. There are watermarks at the bottom of each pages, even though I tricked my website into not showing them. Leave them where they are and nobody explode.

When in doubt, send me a fax! (That’s a french reference)

Hey! You made a mistake, here, on this page!

I know it might be hard to believe since I’m able to use Blender, but I’m a mere human. If you spotted a typo, or a translation mistake, or if I forgot to color part of a background, or if I drew a ring on the wrong hand... Send me a word and I’ll fix it right away.

I did the english translation myself, and I’m far from great on that front, so I would be very surprised if I didn’t make mistakes everywhere. I’m counting on you to spot them!

Right, that’s swell and all, but how do I contact you?
